A private memoir studio

Grandchildren inherit your estate. But will they inherit you?

  • The Book. A fine-edition memoir, ghostwritten in your voice, designed and printed privately.
  • The Voice. Your stories, recorded the way only you tell them.
  • The Conversation. Long after you're gone, a grandson asks what to do about a girl he's too shy to speak to. He hears you answer, warm and unhurried, in the voice the family knows.

Six to eight telephone conversations, from your own home. Twelve commissions a year.

The Studio

You already know the alternative. A team of six on every call. A book with your name on it that reads like it was written by a stranger. I run the opposite practice.

For years I have served one kind of client: people with more to lose than money. The work has been books and broadcasts. I do not hand the work off. What you commission is what you get, in my hands throughout.

One commission

The Legacy Estate

A life, properly kept.

Books in a private library

A series of recorded conversations, by telephone, from your own home, wherever in the world that is. We simply talk, and I capture every word.

From those conversations come three things.

The Book. A memoir in your voice, privately printed to heirloom standard.

The Voice. Recordings of your voice. The way you tell stories.

The Conversation. The people you love most can sit across the table and ask you anything, long after you are gone, and hear you answer in your own voice. A great-granddaughter who never met you asks what you were like at her age. A granddaughter, running the company you built, asks how you knew when to say no.

Six to eight conversations. Four to six months, at your pace.

One commission, one figure, agreed on one page before we begin. Commissions begin at £75,000, and the number does not change.

Principles

The house rules

I.

Discretion by default

Your name appears nowhere without written permission, including in my own marketing. The NDA is signed before the first call, not after it.

II.

Twelve commissions a year

When the diary is full, it is full, and I will tell you honestly when it opens. I would rather decline a commission than dilute one.

III.

Founder-led, always

You deal with me. I conceive the work and I deliver it. There is no account team to hand you to.

IV.

Built to be kept

You own everything: the transcripts, the recordings, the files, the accounts.

Four steps

The Engagement

01

The Introduction

Twenty minutes, unhurried. You talk, I listen. If I am not the right pair of hands, I will say so, and tell you whose are.

02

The Composition

One page, not thirty. The scope, the timeline, one fixed figure. It does not expire, and it is not negotiable.

03

The Craft

You watch the work mature in private viewings. No big reveal. No surprise invoice. No revision theatre.

04

The Keeping

Everything is documented. The standard is set in writing. If I miss it, the remedy is on the same page.

The Founder

Stewart Alexander

Founder & Principal

From 2016 I hosted a broadcast where I interviewed attorneys and advisors, many of whom serve wealthy families in divorce. Some of those conversations became their books.

The method never changed. People talk, I listen, and the book sounds like them.

The Legacy Estate is that same work for one life: your privately printed book, your voice, and a way for your family to keep talking to you.

The professionals I interviewed spent their careers protecting what their clients had built. Their work is exact. Every asset named, every share accounted for.

What none of the paperwork could hold was the voice that built it.

That is the part I keep.

Write me.

Tell me what you want kept. One sentence is enough. 'I want my grandchildren to know who I was.' I will take it from there. If a friend sent you, tell me who.

That is the whole of it. No forms. I follow up once, gently. After that, the silence is yours to keep or break.
